RULES & REGULATIONS


These rules and regulations have been established for the benefit and protection of the members of the Swim Club and their guests. Failure to comply may result in serious injury to yourself or someone else, loss of privileges, and/or suspension or revocation of membership.

These rules and regulations apply to all Swim Club property as recorded on the plat map filed at the Montgomery Courthouse. This includes pool, pool enclosures, parking lot, driveways, adjacent grass, and clubhouse.

1. HOURS OF OPERATION:

Memorial Day Weekend - Mid September
Daily 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.

Hours of operation after Labor Day

Friday, September 5: 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, September 6: 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday, September 7: 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.


Friday, September 12: 3:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Saturday, September 13: 12 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Sunday, September 14: 12 p.m. to 6p.m.


(Montgomery County School Days:
Spring 1:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Fall 3:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)

2. The presence of members or guests on the Swim Club property is restricted to the above hours with an additional half-hour before opening and after closing. Any use of the property at other hours without permission of the Board is prohibited. Violations may result in arrest for the trespass and/or suspension or revocation of membership.

3. The Pool Manager has full authority and responsibility for the facilities, property, guests and members. The Manager may close the pool, facilities, and property for emergencies, maintenance, repairs, lightening storms, etc. The Manager or his staff may suspend violators of these rules. In the event that lightening is seen or thunder is heard, all persons must take cover within the pool building until at least half an hour after lightening was last seen or thunder last heard.

4. Injuries shall be promptly reported to the Pool Manager and a written report shall be filed with the Board within 12 hours of the incident.

5. Complaints and/or suggestions regarding these rules, their enforcement, management, etc. shall be in writing, signed by the writer, and mailed to MSCSC, P.O. Box 4192, Rockville, Maryland 20850.

6. Violations of these rules shall be promptly reported in writing by the Pool Manager, his agent, or Board member, to the Board within 12 hours of the incident, stating whether or not the violator was suspended. The Board may take other or further action and in all cases notify the family of the violator in writing.

7.a. An MSCSC member may bring a guest at any time by paying the guest fee of $5.00 per day per guest (guests under 3 years of age will be admitted free of charge). Paper guest passes which members receive with their pool passes or which members may have from prior years may be used at the rate of one pass per guest per day.

7.b. Members are responsible for the conduct of their guests. If the guest is under 18, the member must be present when the guest is on pool property.

7.c. All guests and sponsors must register whenever using any part of the pool property. Guests not properly registered are subject to police arrest as trespassers and any member alleging the sponsorship will be suspended or the membership of the offending member and/or family revoked.

7.d. Any guests using any portion of the pool property must have submitted a pass and be registered.

7.e. Non-members may not participate in swim team and diving team.

7.f. Non-members may participate in swim lessons at non-member rate.

8.a. Passes are not transferable. Any MSCSC member who transfers his or her pass or anyone using a transferred pass will be subject to suspension or revocation of membership.

8.b. Any member over 8 years of age will be required to show his MSCSC pass upon the request of pool staff or Board member while on or using any part of pool property. Failure to show pass will result in suspension or revocation of membership.

8.c. Lost passes are to be reported immediately to the Pool Manager. Replacement passes may be obtained from the Membership Committee for $5.00 per pass. Contact the Pool Manager for the name of the appropriate committee member.

8.d. Any use of pool, pool enclosure, clubhouse, parking lot, or grounds requires a member pass or permission of the Board.

9.a. Members or guests are subject to suspension for loitering on any pool property.

9.b. The pool telephone is restricted to use by or permission of the Pool Manager. There will be a charge of $0.25 per phone call.

9.c. MSCSC, Inc. and its Board assume no responsibility for the safeguarding of personal property. Locks for bicycles or the clothes lockers are recommended. All locks must be removed each time the member leaves the pool property.

10.a. Health and sanitation regulations require that the showers be taken before entering the pool enclosure to swim.

10.b. Any member or guest having a communicable disease, skin disorder, inflammation, cuts, or bandage must not use the pool.

10.c. Food and candy are permitted only in designated areas.

10.d. Alcoholic beverages will be permitted on pool property only for approved adult parties.

10.e. Spitting, mouth spouting of water, nose-blowing, urinating, etc. are prohibited on all pool property, other than the proper plumbing fixtures.

10.f. No pets are permitted on pool property at any time.

11.a. No person shall use the pool unless it is officially opened and the guards are on duty.

11.b. No glass of any kind is allowed in the locker room or the pool enclosures.

11.c. Toys, tubes, snorkels, very soft balls, and other swim equipment are permitted within the pool enclosure by permission of the Pool Manager.

11.d. Running on the pool deck or within pool enclosure is prohibited.

11.e. Rough play, pushing, acrobatics, dunking, splashing, hazardous jumping and diving, and towel snapping are prohibited.

12. The lap lanes are reserved for the swimmers who wish to swim laps. No diving, playing, or rope-hanging is permitted in the lap lanes.

13.a. Children 7 years of age or younger are not permitted within the pool enclosure or in the pool unless accompanied at all times by a member or guest 14 years of age or older.

13.b. The wading pool and adjoining play area are reserved for children 5 years of age or younger. These children are the sole responsibility of their parent or sponsor.

13.c. Anyone not toilet-trained (incontinent) who wishes to enter any pool must wear a clean diaper covered by separate rubber/vinyl pants, all of which must fit snugly around the legs and waist. If the diaper becomes soiled, this person must leave the pool immediately, and may not return until he/she has taken or been given a soap shower and has been recovered by a new diaper with clean rubber/vinyl pants.

13.d. Children 16 years of age or younger may use the main pool after they pass a basic swim test which includes swimming the width of the pool and return, and treading water for one minute. Non-qualifiers will be restricted to the training end of the pool.

13.e. After 6:00 p.m. children 12 years of age or younger must be accompanied by a parent or sponsor 16 years of age or older.

14.a. No running is permitted on wooden decks or stairs at any time.

14.b. Sitting on railings of the upper deck or the pergola is not permitted at any time.

14.c. Dropping or throwing objects from the upper deck is strictly forbidden.

14.d. Children 6 years of age or younger are not permitted on the upper deck unless accompanied by an adult.

14.e. Food is not permitted on the wooden pergola (extension of the pool deck).

14.f. Food is permitted on the upper deck but glass containers are forbidden at all times.

15.a. Only one person at a time is allowed on the diving apparatus (including the ladder).

15.b. A diver must wait until the preceding diver has surfaced and cleared the area (has climbed out of pool).

15.c. Running on the diving boards is prohibited.

15.d. Divers must dive straight from the front end of the board.

15.e. Divers may spring only once on the board.

15.f. A diver must surface promptly and swim from the area. A diver must not swim under the board at any time.

15.g. The diving area is reserved exclusively for divers, unless opened by manager.

16.a. Bicycles are to be parked in the lower parking lot rack. Locks are recommended.

16.b. Skateboarding is not permitted upon or within any pool property.

16.c. Hot-rodding of motor scooter, motorcycles, cars, or any motorized vehicle will result in member and family suspension.

17.a. The parking lot is for the use of members only while participating in pool activities or using pool facilities.

17.b. Loitering in the parking lots or on pool property is not permitted.

17.c. All pool property must be vacated within one half-hour after pool closing.

17.d. All vehicle traffic on the roadway next to the pool enclosure is one way from Falls Road, will continue up the hill and exit from the top (main) parking lot.

18.a. Any violation of these rules and regulations or any illegal activity upon pool property will result in immediate suspension of the offender. Two suspensions will be grounds for seasonal revocation or loss of family membership without refund.

18.b. Any member, who litters, vandalizes or causes malicious mischief in or on pool property will immediately rectify the damage, pay all costs necessary to rectify any damage, and/or accept suspension or revocation of individual or family membership.
